CEMIX® CEMSEAL SOLVENT is a low viscosity silane-siloxane system which penetrates deeply into porous substrates and then reacts to produce a bonded hydrophobic lining to the pores. This repellent significantly reduces absorption of water and water borne salts but still permits passage of water vapor. The repellent slightly darkens the substrate and has excellent resistance to weathering.
CEMIX CEMSEAL SOLVENT is a clear penetrating hydrophobic repellent that protects concrete and masonry from both water and chloride intrusion whilst still permitting water vapor transmission(breathability).
Surface should be dry and must be free from oil, grease, loose particles, decayed matter, moss, algal growth and curing compounds. For maximum penetration grit blasting, water blasting or some mechanical means of surface preparation is recommended. Water blasting or an acid wash should be used for the removal of moss or algal growth. Rinse off with liberal quantities of clean water and allow to dry. Application to a damp substrate will reduce the penetration and effectiveness of CEMIX CEMSEAL SOLVENT. Protect plants, grass, asphalt, bitumen, plastics and all painted surfaces during preparation and application.
DO NOT allow CEMIX CEMSEAL SOLVENT to be contaminated with water. Shake or stir thoroughly before use. CEMIX CEMSEAL SOLVENT should be applied, without diluting. Ensure that the application rates are achieved (see coverage). On absorbent surfaces, repeat or increase rate of application until surface is completely saturated. Spraying is the preferred method with larger areas, using either conventional paint spray equipment or a garden sprayer. Re-impregnation at a later date is possible if required. Equipment should be washed out in water immediately after use. Allow a minimum interval of four hours between coats.
Before applying any sealer on fresh concrete, ensure a minimum of 28 days for curing. There is not a sealer suitable for all types of pavers, tiles, or other surfaces. Never apply more product than is being absorbed into the surface you are sealing. If product is pooling on the surface, brush the excess off. If you feel no product or very little product is being absorbed, stop and seek technical assistance. Always do a test area first to approve the look and feel before doing the entire area. Ensure there is no rising damp as this will make the sealer surface cloudy. Over application can make the surface slippery especially when wet.
