DESCRIPTION
CEMIX CLEAR SEALER is a low viscosity solvent based sealer which penetrates deeply into porous substrates and then reacts to produce a bonded hydrophobic lining to the pores. This treatment significantly reduces absorption of water and water borne salts. The treatment slightly darkens the substrate and has excellent resistance to weathering.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS & USES
A solvent based clear sealing and dust-proofing coating. Has good flexibility, is long-lasting and will not yellow, crack or peel when properly applied. CEMIX CLEAR SEALER has a positive penetration into the surface.
ADVANTAGES
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
The surface should be dry and must be free from oil, grease, loose particles, decayed matter, moss, algal growth and curing compounds. For maximum penetration, grit blasting, water blasting or some mechanical means of surface preparation is recommended. Water blasting or an acid wash should be used for the removal of moss or algal growth. Rinse off with liberal quantities of clean water and allow to dry. Protect plants, grass, asphalt, bitumen, plastics and all painted surfaces during preparation and application. Always test apply on an area first and approve look and feel.
APPLICATION
Do not allow CEMIX CLEAR SEALER to be contaminated with water. CEMIX CLEAR SEALER should be applied in two coats by low pressure spray direct from the can and without thinning. On absorbent surfaces, repeat or increase the rate of application until the substrate is completely saturated. Allow a minimum interval of 2 hours between coats
Note: There is not a sealer suitable for all types of pavers, tiles, or other surfaces. Never apply more product than is being absorbed into the surface you are sealing. If product is pooling on the surface, brush the excess off. If you feel no product or very little product is being absorbed, stop and seek technical assistance. Always do a test area first to approve the look and feel before doing the entire area. Ensure there is no rising damp as this will make the sealer surface cloudy. Over application can make the surface slippery especially when wet.
TECHNICAL DATA
CLEANING
Equipment should be cleaned with solvent immediately after use. Any spillages should be absorbed with sand or sawdust etc. and disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
STORAGE / SHELF LIFE
CEMIX CLEAR SEALER has a shelf life of six (6) months when stored at temperatures between 4ºC – 35ºC. Containers should be kept airtight to prevent surface evaporation. Freezing or prolonged exposure to direct heat or sunlight must also be avoided.
