BONDING AGENTS
CEMIX MULTIBOND is a water based bonding agent, designed to improve the adhesion of CEMIX products to a variety of porous substrates.
TYPICAL USES:
CEMIX MULTIBOND can be used on concrete, masonry, cementrenders, screeds, fibrous cement sheeting, plasterboard, timber, timber sheeting (plywood and particleboard) and stone. It can be used with the subsequent application of CEMIX tileadhesives, floor levellers and floor repairers on substrates asper the manufacturer’s recommendations for these. Suitable forinterior and exterior use.
ADVANTAGES:
• Can be used as a primer and admixture
COVERAGE:
Varies according to the substrate condition.Approximately 6m2 per litre of product.
PREPARATION:
The substrate should be free of dust, grease, wax, oil, dirt, loose plaster, laitance, curing compounds, paint and all other friable materials and contaminants likely to prevent the adhesive bonding. New concrete should be left with a wood float finish and sufficiently aged as per manufacturer’s recommendations. Smooth surfaces on new and old concrete should be scabbled. All substrates should be structurally sound, securely fastened and properly supported to eliminate any movement that may cause cracking. Dampen the substrate with clean water immediately before the application of CEMIX MULTIBOND.
MIXING:
As a Primer:
Use CEMIX MULTIBOND undiluted. No mixing required.
As an Additive:
Refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations for the CEMIX product being used. As a guide, replace 25% to 50% of the mixing water with CEMIX MULTIBOND.
APPLICATION:
As a Primer:
1. Stir before use.
2. Apply the undiluted product to the substrate with a brush or roller.
3. Two coats may be required on particularly porous substrates. Ensure that the surface is tacky before e-application.
Note: Ensure CEMIX MULTIBOND is tacky before the subsequent application of another CEMIX product.
As an Additive:
Refer to the manufacture’s recommendations for the CEMIX product being used.
DRYING & CURING TIME:
As a Primer:
Drying time depends on the substrate, substrate condition, climate, the type of application and the materials being applied. As a guideline, drying time is approximately 20 minutes.
