CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION is a modified co-polymer latex specially designed to be used as part B of Cemix Proflor trowel applied floor screed (Part A). Using this undiluted additive as a total water replacement while mixing Cemix Proflor powder (Part A) increases strength, density and flexibility of the final screed.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS & USES
Using Cemix Proflor Part B as a total water replacement will increase the strength, density and flexibility of the final screed. Cemix Proflor Part B can also be used as a substrate primer for cementitious toppings.
- Increases strength, density and flexibility of the final screed
- Increases bond strength between substrate and topping
The substrate should be clean and free from dust, grease, wax, oil, dirt, loose plaster, laitance, curing compounds, paints and all other friable materials and contaminants likely to prevent bonding. New concrete should be left with a wood float finish and sufficiently aged for a minimum of 28 days. Shiny smooth surfaces on old concrete should be acid etched or scabbled. CEMIX cement screeds/floor substrates should be securely fastened and properly supported to eliminate any movement which may cause cracking.
As an additive to CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part A): Mix whole containers of product. Mix CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part A) with CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part B). Add 4L of CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part A) to the mixer and then add product to the emulsion. Add the rest of the emulsion slowly whilst mixing until the desired consistency is achieved.
The total maximum of CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION added is 5L for every 25kgs of CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part B) product. Mix thoroughly for 2 – 3 minutes using a drill and paddle or mechanical mortar mixer. Do not mix more product than can be mixed, placed and finished in 60 minutes. As a tile grout & screed additive: Use as a total water replacement in most powder tile adhesives and grouts. At a ratio of approximately 1L of CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part B) to 5kg of powder, slowly add the powder to the CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part B) while mixing with a drill to achieve a lump free consistency, all as per manufacturer’s directions. As an additive for screeds, mix 0.5L of CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part B) with 1kg cement and 3kg sand. 40kg of mixed materials will cover 1m2 at a thickness of 25mm.
AS A SLURRY COAT:
Mix two parts of CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part B) with 3 parts cement.
As Part B of CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION Part A or as an general purpose primer for all other cement based toppings: Dampen the concrete substrate avoiding water pooling. Thoroughly prime the surface with CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part B) brushed undiluted into the substrate. Do not allow the CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part B) to dry. Firmly push the combined CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION Part A and Part B into the surface or void to obtain a wet bond before the CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION Emulstion (Part B) dries. Application is from one side of the patch or floor to the other. Firmly compact the mortar by screeding or trowelling as required. Featheredge as required. Trowel finish as required. Apply product in layers for patching thicken than 10mm in depth. Roughen the preceding layer with CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part B) after it has hardened just prior to applying the next layer.
5L & 20L STORAGE & SHELF LIFE: CEMIX PROFLOR EMULSION (Part B) has a shelf life of 12 months minimum when unopened in original containers. Store in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
Clean all tools with water & brush immediately after use.
